What started as a basic fix-up turned into a full-scope mechanical, electrical, and cosmetic restoration. This El Camino had decades of wear, undocumented wiring, and layer upon layer of past-owner "solutions." My goal was to restore its reliability, clean up its systems, and keep the character of the original build intact while learning everything I could in the process.
From repairing burnt wiring and rebuilding the factory radio to retuning the carburetor and correcting mismatched drivetrain components, this project demanded creativity, patience, and persistence.
Below are a few example images of the work completed.
Previous owner decided to paint it black, I wanted to clean it up to restore original color.
The intake manifold cleaned up nicely after a couple hours spent with the pressure washer, degreaser, and nylon brushes.
